I'm not dead yet!

I can't wait for summer. I am sick of snow and cold. I want to here my daughter and her cousins playing in the pool and the sandbox. I want to be able to hear the neighborhood kids outside playing in the sun.
Last year the neighborhood boys found a bees nest. they spent most of the summer doing as any group of 8-14ish boys would do. They would sneak up on it and throw things at is and run screaming down our driveway. This went on for weeks. It was very entertaining. I would sit there and remember being young and goofy. Thinking of the fact that summer used to mean freedom and fun. Not just another day to work. I want my daughter to be able to enjoy summer and have fun with her friends, learn to ride her bike and have a great time. Then I think of fall and the possiblity of pre-school looming in the future and I think wow is she really that old. I think she is growing up to fast. But that is all part of being a mom. Your children grow up to fast and you sit there thinking "wow you can't be that old, what happened?".

But I will try to enjoy every day of her being young and I will be there for her as she grows. I may only work my job part time. But momhood is a 24/7 job that never ends. She could be 50 and I would still worry about her. Such is a mom's life.

I am back!

It is me. I know I have been gone for a long time, but life has been crazy. Pretty much I can sum up the entire time I have been gone by one phrase "pretty much sucked". There have been some good moments but it has been crazy, busy and agravating. Well now it is may. I am on the computer will my daughter an my niece are busy watching the Backyardigans. Now they are beating each other up and screaming. My niece is a little crabby today. My Em is now almost 2, walking well and almost speaks english most of the time. Well, I don't have much time but now but I figured that I had to get started again sometime. I will be back again soon. At least sooner than I did last time. Its not like anyone ever read this blog anyway. I have to go break up a fight. Such is a moms life. Later.

Now we're moving

Well Tuesday the baby decided the time had finally come. She pushed her self up to a standing position and walked across the room. She had been making everyone walk with her and she would walk holding onto things but now she can't get enough of moving on her own. Over the past week she has moved a little more every day until Tuesday, she walked all day. By wednesday afternoon she was running. Now she walks around in circle looking very proud of herself. She is also at that baby stage of imitating people. She mostly speaks a type of giberish but more and more words are showing up in her sentences. Today I said tell daddy "I'm up now. you can go to bed" and she declared "Dada, go bed now". The look on his face was priceless. She is getting so big and getting smarter every day. It is pretty scary. Well, I am going to go hit some NHL websites. See you later.

Do they really treat the old and sick like this?

So, I went to Buffalo to see Grandma again today. I think that the quality of care she is getting is even worse than we thought. First off we didn't get out of town til almost 2:00 pm, but that is a different screwed up story. We got there around 4pm and she looked awful and was sitting up in a chair. She was all confused, telling us we weren't supposed to be there and that we weren't coming today. Mom said "remember I told you we were coming out today?" she said"oh right" . Mom asked how long she had been in the chair. The answer was since they took my lunch tray around 12:30. No one had ever come back to check on her. Mom went looking for the nurse to fine out what was going on and was told the nurse wasn't on the floor at the moment. So Mom said my mother was in pain and needed help. They sent down an aide. I guess that nobody reads charts or checks things out ever in this hospital. They were trying to get her to walk from the chair to the bed when the nurse showed up an wanted to know what the aides were doing. I guess Grandma was sitting on a pillow with straps that can be picked up with a lift to move the patient back and forth. They got her all comfortable and we never saw them again. About a half hour before we were ready to leave her machine started beeping. No nurses to be found. Mom finally went out to find someone and ran into a different nurse who was headed for our room with a medication bag for the IV. It turns out the nurse from the shift before left without leaving a report 20 minutes early. This left the poor nurse coming on duty to try and figure out what was going on. Alarms were going off on half the monitors on the unit and most of the patients had had minimal care all day. The new nurse was ready for blood as was my mother. Mom said "What is wrong with this hospital? Do they just leave their older patients and the people who can't ring the buzzers or take care of themselves to rot?" Things have been bad there but this is the worst. My Mom said not to let anything like that happen to her or Dad. I promised her that there are enough of us that we would descend upon the hospital like vultures and make sure they got decent care. Now on top of this it looks like Grandma probably won't be out of the hospital and going to rehab in the nursing home on Tuesday. She may have to stay there longer. We are all thrilled. Well it has been a long frusterating day, I must go. Will try to be back before to long.

Fun,fun, fun

It has been a little while since I have been near a computer, but I was busy. I swear. I have been working, baby is still cranky and unhappy. I had to go to Buffalo to visit Grandma and be mad at nurses. I have not been doing as good as I would like to. Well it could be worse I guess.

So we borrowed my In-laws van So Mom, two of my sisters, my neice, Emily and I could go to Buffalo to see Grandma. She is kind of loopy, but not really bad for an 81 year old that is pulled out of their normal environment and put in an area with nothing to do and no one to talk to. My Mom and my Uncle are taking turns going to Buffalo to see her. It is a 1 hr drive for Mom and about a 2 hr drive for my uncle. So life is a little more hectic. She is having surgery on tuesday on the disks in her neck. It looks like they have deteriorated and are pinching her nerves making her have stroke like symptoms. They are going to clean them off and separate them with cadaver bones. That is kind of cool. Then you think of all the movies where someone has part of someone else implanted and they try to kill people and it is kind of creepy. Just kidding. Sometimes thoughts just pop into your head.

My Sister-in law picked my up from work today. Then we had to go to Walmart to take her sister cigarettes at work. We had the baby so we didn't have to head right home. We picked up a couple of things. They we went out to the car which insisted that not starting would be fun. We disagreed but it won. I hate cars sometimes. So we sat around with crabby baby tim my Mother in-law came and got us and we went home. At least baby went right to bed.

I have no feeling in my middle left toe. This is the norm most of the time but it is still kind of creepy. Have you noticed the word for today is creepy. I like creepy. Well, I am going to go do creepy things elsewhere. Later.

The joys of teething

So on top of everything else I have a cold or virus or something else that sucks. Even better the baby has a runny nose and is very cranky. She went to the Dr today to make sure it wasn't an ear infection. Nope. Of course not. She is getting 4 teeth at once and will be miserable and keep me up all night for 3 or 4 more days. I am so thrilled. Oh well at least she isn't truly sick. But I hate to see her so miserable and unhappy. I get to got to work at 08:30 tomorrow morning and her Dad gets he til he come into work. He is thrilled. Well I am going to go eat and do stuff.

Ah fall

Ah, Rochester. Yesterday it was in the mid 70s today high mid 50s to 61 degrees. Gotta love it. Actually, this is my favorite season and my favorite weather. Cool but not to cold. The leaves are starting to change, the air smells brisk and like fall. People are starting to use their fireplaces. It is great.
I got home from work tonight and found out that my Grandmother on my Mom's side is in a hospital in Buffalo. She has been having stroke like symptoms, but there is no sign of stroke on her brain. They did find a herniated disk in her neck. The Dr thinks that the disk is causing the storke like symptoms. They are doing MRI's tomorrow. They may have to do surgery. That type of surgery is rough on an young healthy person. It could be real rough on a 81yr old woman. So all we can do is pray and hope for the best.
Work was incredibly frusturating today. I was left a pile of papers to put together and file. It turns out that instead of the usual where they are all together and in order, they seem to have been dropped or taken off the printer out of order. It was like an obnoxious puzzle. Then parts of 2 accounts were missing. Then one of the books the filing goes in were missing. Man was I cranky. Oh well i'm gonna go do laundry and eat something.
